To ensure that all captured pollutants are removed, Ecosol units are best cleaned by vacuum (although the RSF 100 can be cleaned by manually removing the liner bag).
Cleaning by vacuum offers far greater benefits compared to all other methods. After many years of industry experience we believe that this is the safest, most efficient, and cost-effective method for the following reasons:
- All captured pollutants (and especially fine sediments) are removed from the unit;
- Pollutants are not manually handled and can be safely transported;
- Free oils and grease (hydrocarbons) are able to be efficiently removed and stored;
- No additional machinery other than the eductor truck is required;
- The internal filtration system is unlikely to be damaged during the cleaning process; and
- The cleaning costs are significantly less than for other methods.
Other GPT providers will urge you to buy their products because of the perceived benefits of using removable baskets. These benefits are illusory as you can see from the discussion topic in our FAQ.
The main disadvantage with a removable basket is that, prior to transfer to the disposal truck, it must be positioned over the unit to drain and this results in the return to the unit, and subsequent remobilisation, of harmful pollutants such as Total Phosphorous (TP), Total Nitrogen (TN), and Total Suspended Solids (TSS). In addition, sediment settled at the bottom and around the external sides of the screens remains in the capture silo and this may result in a misalignment problem when the cleaning operator tries to refit the basket into the unit.
